Manufacturing Public Space

In 2006, IBZs were established to protect existing manufacturing districts and encourage industrial growth citywide. The area designation fosters a high-performing business district by creating competitive advantages over re-locating. The IBZs are supported by tax credits, zone-specific planning efforts, and direct business assistance. The city will NOT support rezoning of these areas for residential use, so the industrial sector can continue to grow in place.

The Industrial Business zone in LIC is essential for the future economic growth of NYC. But do the people working in the IBZ know about the opportunities for development?

Our team proposes Manufacturing Public Space (MPS) to protect, connect and adapt the IBZ to be developed by the people and for the people.
